People from almost every age group suffer from blackheads. After pimples, blackheads is a major issue that one faces and does almost everything to get rid of it. Though ample chemical blackhead removing products are available in the market, but they not only make the affected areas red, but some of it also cause skin irritation. For sensitive skin, it’s a big no-no and so it becomes a Herculean task to get rid of those troublesome blackheads.

However, Ayurveda has the answer for eliminating those irritating blackheads without causing any skin damage. It leaves your affected areas soft and spotless. Here are 10 kitchen ingredients that will give you blackheads free skin without spending a fortune on those pricey products.

Baking Soda

One of the famous Hollywood celebrities Emma Stone swears by this beauty ritual. In one of her interviews, she revealed that she uses baking soda to maintain a healthy skin. Take suffice amount of baking soda and add a few drops of water. Apply it on the affected areas and allow it to work for minimum 60 seconds. Massage it gently in circular motions for another minute and rinse with cold water. Experience a never-like-before soft skin.


Oats are not only great for diet but also does a wonderful job as an exfoliator. Take sufficient amount of plain oats and add either normal water or rose water. Allow the oats to soak the provided moisture. Mash moist oats after 1 minute and form a paste-like consistency. Cover blackheads with this paste and gently massage in circular motions. Wash off thoroughly with lukewarm water.


Honey acts as a brilliant moisturizer and allows your skin to be moist and plumpy. Heat water and place a container on it. It is known as a double boiler technique and prevents the substances from burning. Pour 1-2 tablespoons of raw honey on the second container and remove the container from the boiler. Apply lukewarm honey on the affected areas and allow it to sit for at least 10 minutes. Rinse with either lukewarm water or a damp cloth.

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple Cider Vinegar offers ample benefits to the skin and hair. It is most frequently used to treat acne, but it is also beneficial in treating blackheads. Dab a cotton ball in Apple Cider Vinegar and apply gently. Let it dry and rinse with warm water afterward.


Sugar acts as a natural exfoliator. You can prepare a wide range of face and body exfoliators just by using sugar as your main ingredients. Take 2 tablespoons of sugar, ½ tablespoons of both honey and lemon juice. Mix it well and use it as a scrubber. Sugar will start to dissolve and that’s when you need to wash off your face. Pat dry and moisturize as usual.

Epsom Salt

Epsom salt soothes the muscles and relaxes the body. Prepare a mixture of 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt and half-cup of hot water. When the solution is lukewarm, dip a cotton ball in it and dab it on the affected areas. Allow it to dry thoroughly and wash off with lukewarm water afterward.


The strong mint in toothpaste can not only help in getting rid of that nasty pimples but can also help in getting rid of the blackheads. Keep a separate toothbrush for this and try to use the gentlest toothbrush you can find. This method can be done in 2 ways.

Apply toothpaste on the affected areas and dab your toothbrush in the water. Now, when the bristles are moist, massage gently with the brush in circular motions and wash off after 1-2 minutes.

Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is an effective and easy to use the remedy. Squeeze half lemon and dab a cotton ball in lemon juice. Apply it on the affected areas, allow it to sit for minimum 10 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and moisturize as usual.

Green Tea

Green tea works as an excellent remedy when it comes to treating blackheads. Dip 2 teabags of green tea in hot water and allow it to cool. When it reaches the room temperature dip a cotton ball and pat it on the affected areas. Allow it to dry and wash off afterward.

Egg Whites

Separate the egg yolks from the whites and whisk it well. Apply a thin layer of egg whites on the affected areas and cover it with a layer of tissue paper. Allow it to dry. Repeat the procedure again. There should be 2 layers of tissues. Peel off the tissue layers when the pack is dry thoroughly and rinse to remove any residue. Moisturize as usual.
